Ayotte's Statement on State of the Union Address

Statement

Date: Jan. 24, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte released this statement tonight following the President's State of the Union address:

"Republicans are ready to work with President Obama on getting our fiscal house in order and getting our economy moving. However, he needs to back up his lofty speeches with real substantive policies to reduce our debt and create a better climate for private sector job growth.

"Today marks the 1,000th day that Congress has gone without a budget. That's unacceptable, and I'm disappointed that the president didn't offer a serious deficit reduction plan that cuts spending. In the Senate, I will continue my efforts to reduce wasteful federal spending, pass pro-growth policies to create jobs, and replace devastating cuts to the Pentagon's budget with appropriate alternative savings."
