Our $1.5 trillion deficit and $15 trillion debt were not created because we are taxed too little, they were created because we spend too much. Washington politicians -- Republicans and Democrats -- like to call reducing the growth of government spending a "cut." Unfortunately, growing the size of government more slowly is not the answer. We need real cuts in government spending and that's why I support a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. We need leaders in Washington to make the tough decisions we elect them to make if we are going to solve our financial crisis.
