Peters Supports President Obama's Three Recess Appointments to the National Labor Relations Board

This afternoon following President Obama's recess appointment of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, news broke that the President is also set to appoint Sharon Block, Terence Flynn and Richard Griffin to the National Labor Relations Board ending months of obstruction and red tape from Senate Republicans. These recess appointments were absolutely necessary since there are currently only two members on the board, two members are required to meet a quorum and board member Craig Becker's term is set to expire this week. Unfortunately, this was just one more case of Tea Party Republicans in the Senate refusing to allow any appointees to undergo the regular nominating process because of their ideological opposition to labor unions.

"Once again, President Obama is proving that he will cut through the red tape to stand up for working Americans even if Tea Party Republicans refuse to work with us," said Rep. Gary Peters. "Today's news that three new members will be appointed to the National Labor Relations Board is good for Michigan workers and I strongly support this decision."
