Congresswoman Hochul Applauds Governor Cuomo For Signing NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant

Congresswoman Kathy Hochul today applauded Governor Andrew Cuomo for signing the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant, which would invest $35 million at the University at Buffalo.

"This is extraordinary news for Western New York that will not only help increase the quality of education at the University at Buffalo, but will also invest in our local economy be creating over 3,000 jobs," said Congresswoman Hochul. "Grants like these help invest in research and technology, and will ensure our young people have the proper resources to receive a high-quality education. Our local community will also benefit greatly from this grant thanks to the more than 3,000 education, healthcare, and construction jobs being created."

The plan unveiled today will set a plan to hire new faculty, expand UB's academic facilities and relocate the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus in downtown Buffalo, resulting in an additional $145 million coming to the region.
