Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) released the following statement today after the Labor Department reported that the economy added 120,000 new jobs in November and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.6% in November--the lowest unemployment rate since March 2009:
"Today's jobs report is a clear indication that our economy is moving in the right direction. Despite this progress, the unemployment rate continues to be unacceptably high. There is still much work to be done, but today's news does show that the bold decisions made by the last Congress are paying off with more Americans returning to work.
"I am hopeful that we can build on this momentum in Congress and make job creation our top priority. Republicans have wasted too much time and have failed to produce any serious job creation plan. I will continue to work hard on advancing policies that will help grow the economy, like extending the payroll tax cut. This common sense plan would help stimulate the economy and put money back in the pockets of 160 million Americans."
