Rep. Keith Ellison (MN-05) is encouraging Minneapolis residents to support locally owned small businesses when shopping during the holidays.

The Congressman's reminder coincides with the Second Annual Small Business Saturday, which is dedicated to supporting small businesses by suggesting Americans buy local when shopping on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

"Small businesses make up a key sector of our economy and employ more than half of all Americans," said Rep. Ellison. "I'm proud to say that Minneapolis and our suburban communities have a vibrant small business community, including art galleries, clothing stores, diverse restaurants and many more. We can all contribute to our local economy while enjoying the holidays."
