Dear friends,
It was a busy week in the Capitol, especially Thursday when I chaired the Subcommittee on Workforce Protection hearing called, "Examining Regulatory and Enforcement Actions Under the Fair Labor Standards Act". At the hearing Members questioned witnesses about the Department of Labor's policies and discovered how the Department is not helping job creators who genuinely are trying to abide by a complex series of employment laws that date back to the 1930s. This confusion can lead to lawsuits and heavy handed government enforcement that dries up the resources and productivity of business.
In turn, job creators--men and women trying to survive in this tough economy and provide a livelihood for their employees--face greater uncertainty.
Thanks for reading.
