Walberg Weekly Wrap Up 11/11

Statement

Date: Nov. 11, 2011

Dear Friends,

On November 11, 1919 President Woodrow Wilson declared the first Armistice, or Veteran's Day, by proclaiming:

"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations."

His words, though directed at the ending of World War I ring as true today as they did 92 years ago. Let's remember those who paid the ultimate price to serve their country, knowing that their sacrifice would guarantee freedom for generations they'd never know. Thank someone you know who served or is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. And let's also not let our gratitude be contained in this one day, but instead show our thankfulness throughout the year to those who put others before themselves.

Sincerely,

Congressman Tim Walberg
