SCHUMER: KEY SENATE PANEL APPROVES $300,000 FOR WASTEWATER SERVICES FOR CUMBERLAND HEAD IN PLATTSBURGH

Federal Funding would be used for sewage collection and treatment on the Cumberland Head peninsula on Lake Champlain

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee has approved $300,000 in federal funding for wastewater services on Cumberland Head peninsula in Plattsburgh. The news came as the Senate Appropriations Committee approved the Fiscal Year 2005 VA-HUD Appropriations bill. The bill will now be sent to the Senate floor. The bill must then go into conference with the House version before the final bill is approved by Congress.

"This funding is great news for the growing community on Cumberland Head peninsula. Proper treatment of sewage on Lake Champlain not only benefits the residents but the environment as well," Schumer said. "Lake Champlain attracts people for its beautiful shorelines and this funding will help ensure it stays that way while providing the high quality public services New Yorkers deserve."
