Last week, our nation gave thanks for our many blessings and freedoms. While many of us have a great deal to be thankful for, 13.9 million Americans are currently facing unemployment. The economic climate has slowed growth and hiring. As you well know, some areas of the Ninth District have been hit especially hard by job losses.
My question to you is this: what will it take to create just one more job? It's amazing what a job can do for an individual, a family, and even an entire community. It's a chain reaction. If every business in America hired just one more employee, the impact would be far reaching. How many people do you know that would benefit?
In order to rebuild America's economy, one of our first steps must be the creation of new jobs. The House has already passed more than 20 bipartisan jobs bills, which are awaiting Senate action. Some of these slow down burdensome regulations, while others encourage domestic energy production and help provide employment training services to veterans.
Collaboration on this issue is critical. If you have more ideas for what we can do to help create jobs, I want to hear them. How can we make the tax code more fair? Are there regulations that can be rolled back to help businesses?
