Today Rep. Todd Rokita responded to the Department of Labor's October jobs report which showed that the economy only created 80,000 jobs nationwide:
"Today's unemployment numbers are just more evidence that President Obama's economic policies continue to fail. We do not need more government spending and handouts paid for by our children and grandchildren. The 14 million Americans looking for jobs know these failed policies are making matters worse, not better.
We need policies that get government out of the way and empower individuals, entrepreneurs and small business owners to innovate, grow and create jobs. We need policies that project future certainty, something essential to businesses making investments and taking the risks necessary to create jobs.
Unfortunately, there are more than 20 House-passed bills currently awaiting action in the Senate that will help the private sector create jobs. These bills will create an environment more favorable to economic growth and job creation by simplifying parts of the tax code, increasing domestic energy production and rolling back the miles of job-killing red tape tying the hands of small business owners and entrepreneurs. On top of that, we will soon vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment that will help create the long-term certainty need for economic growth by making the federal government live within its means.
It's time for the Senate to act and President Obama to sign these bills."
