Where Are the Jobs Bills?

Statement

Republicans in Congress continue to disregard the opinions of most Americans concerning proposed action on the economy. According to a recent CBS/New York Times poll, the economy remains the highest priority of 57 percent of Americans. The poll also indicated that Americans want to invest in different sectors of our economy. For example, 80 percent of Americans want to spend money on infrastructure such as bridges, schools and airports as mechanisms to create jobs. Sixty-five percent of Americans believe it would be fair to raise taxes on those making $1 million or more annually. It is clear that the GOP is out of touch with the American people on this issue. If their so-called commitment to job creation has any legitimacy, then they need to seriously consider the policies provided within the American Jobs Act. The livelihoods of millions of Americans depend on our choices, and the continued inaction by the House majority remains inexcusable.
