Capito Responds To Latest Jobs Numbers Released By Department Of Labor

Statement

Date: Nov. 4, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

"Today's jobs numbers reinforce the urgency for Democrats and Republicans to work together to foster a positive environment for job growth, free of the threat of more regulations and higher taxes. A .1% improvement in the employment rate is nothing to celebrate; we need to be adding hundreds of thousands of jobs each month in order to make a significant dent in joblessness.

"House Republicans have worked across party lines to pass 15 bills to create jobs, streamline regulations, expand energy exploration and make more accountable. Unfortunately, party politics have kept these bills from seeing the light of day in the United States Senate.

"The national unemployment rate has hovered around 9% for over two and a half years. Thirteen million more Americans are on food stamps since the President took office. It's time to for a new economic plan that creates more jobs, not more government."
