Congresswoman Hirono Statement on Death of Muammar Qaddafi

Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii) today issued the following statement on the death of deposed dictator Muammar Qaddafi:

"Today marks an historic victory for democracy for the people of Libya. For more than four decades, Qaddafi tortured and killed his own people who opposed him. He had more American blood on his hands than any terrorist other than Osama bin Laden. The United States stands by the Libyan people as they face a new set of challenges in making the political, social, and economic transition to a democratic state."
