Small Business Committee Member to Deliver Weekly Republican Address

On Thursday, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced that House Small Business Committee Member Rep. Bobby Schilling (R-IL) was chosen to discuss Republicans' job creation plan in the party's weekly address on Saturday, October 29th.

Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) said, "We are proud that one of our Members has been chosen to promote our party's pro-small business agenda in the weekly Republican address. Mr. Schilling has practical experience as a small business owner to truly speak to what Washington needs to do to help America get back to work. I couldn't think of a better person to communicate our goals than Congressman Schilling."

Speaker Boehner (R-OH) said, "The House continues to take action to help America's job creators, but more needs to be done, and it will take willing partners in the Senate and the White House. As a small business owner, Bobby is dealing with the challenges facing America's job creators, and is committed to finding common ground on their behalf. I hope everyone in Washington and around the country will listen to what he has to say."

Rep. Schilling (R-IL) said, "The number one issue the American people want addressed is jobs. Job creation isn't a Democratic or Republican issue, but a red, white, and blue issue. I know firsthand from my experience as a small business owner the challenges of creating jobs and meeting a payroll in the face of overwhelming government regulations and paperwork. Regrettably, the Senate and the Administration seem more intent on having talking points than on taking up the jobs bills the House has already approved on a bipartisan basis. The House knows we can't wait to spur economic growth and create an environment for private-sector job creation, and we will continue tackling our Plan for America's Job Creators."

Schilling is a small business owner born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois. He and his family own and operate Saint Giuseppe's Heavenly Pizzeria in Moline. He previously worked in the financial services industry and as a machine operator, serving as a member of the United Paper Workers Union, Local 191. With his business, Schilling has experienced firsthand how inefficient and ineffective government can be. He decided to get involved and try to make a difference, and is now serving his first term representing Illinois' 17th Congressional District.
