Federal Funding for Mass Transit Research

Statement

This week, I was thrilled to announce that a $2 million grant had been awarded to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization by the U.S. Department of Transportation. This grant award will be used to conduct an alternative analysis of proposed bus rapid transit and light-rail routes along Indy's so-called "Central Corridors," which include Washington Street, Keystone Avenue between Carmel and the Southside of Indianapolis, College and Madison Avenues. I was happy to support this grant application because it will ensure that new transit lines are cost effective, while also reaching those in 7th District who would most benefit from transit service.
