"After eight years, over $700 billion dollars spent, and nearly 4,500 lives lost, our soldiers in Iraq are finally coming home. I thank each and every one of the brave men and women who have served our country, as well as all their families. Many risked, if not gave, their lives to protect America's national security and support the Iraqi people as they work towards establishing a prosperous Iraq.
"With this withdrawal, nearly 40,000 soldiers will be returning home to their families to spend the holidays, including our troops from the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
"But now with the completion of our mission in Iraq, let us get back to our number one priority: putting the American people back to work."
