Hoyer Hosts Town Hall, Participates in Roundtable on Jobs and Make It In America

Statement

This past week, I was in the district meeting with constituents and talking with them about issues of importance to our community.

On Monday, I hosted a town hall meeting in Waldorf to discuss job creation and the Make It In America plan. The Democrats' Make It In America plan is an important initiative to create jobs and grow the economy by investing in education, innovation, and creating the conditions for businesses to launch and expand. By strengthening American manufacturing, this plan will create jobs and help companies grow in sectors across our economy. I have enjoyed meeting and discussing the Make It In America plan with manufacturers, labor groups, academics, and citizens throughout the Fifth District over the past year, and I was pleased to reintroduce this plan and discuss its merits with even more constituents at the town hall. I am committed to promoting job growth in our state so that more businesses, and more families, can Make It In America and right here in Maryland. In addition to the town hall, I also toured the College of Southern Maryland's Center for Trades and Energy Training and participated in a roundtable discussion with students and employers on the importance of the program to Southern Maryland. This program provides important opportunities for our community by helping students entering the workforce get the skills they need to be successful, and provides employers seeking qualified candidates for employment well-trained workers. This is just one successful example of why investing in job growth here in Maryland today is helping drive a sustainable economic recovery for our state and our nation.
