Chairman McCaul on the hearing:

"Narco-terrorists are operating within miles of the United States--Mexico border, and they are infiltrating US cities. The U.S. Congress must be updated and continually evaluate U.S. efforts to determine if we are effective in countering this growing threat and properly assisting Mexico in their war against the drug cartels. Both Chairman Mack and I have held hearings on the Merida Initiative, and we decided to combine efforts so the American public has a more comprehensive understanding of the growing insurgent threat in Mexico, the terrorist tactics these drug cartels are using, and what steps the U.S. Government is taking to help Mexico."
