Webster Encourages Growth and Policies to Restore Confidenc

(Washington, D.C.) -- U.S. Representative Daniel Webster (FL-08) issued the following statement encouraging a new direction in response to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics October Unemployment Report:

"For 32 months, unemployment has been above 8 percent, a level the Administration said would never be reached if the stimulus -- that cost taxpayers over one trillion dollars -- was passed. For too long, hardworking families have been forced to wait and see if tax-and-spend policies would turn this economy around; these policies clearly have come up short. Unemployment averages over 10.3% in Central Florida, cresting to 12.7% in the Ocala area. With numbers this staggering, the time to look at community-generated solutions that do not involve government spending and government intervention is now.

"The stagnant numbers released today highlight the need for an immediate new direction, an alternative to yet another Washington spending binge. The first step to create jobs is to give our businesses access to capital by implementing serious reform to reduce Washington's spending. Next, we renew confidence in our great country through an American energy policy that creates American energy here at home with American workers. Finally, we provide certainty through a more simple tax code and competitive tax rates for small business owners and entrepreneurs to encourage fast-track hiring," said Congressman Daniel Webster.

Congressman Webster encourages business owners and Central Florida residents to submit job creation ideas to Webster's Jobs Plan, an outline of solutions, generated in our community, to create jobs and provide families with financial security once again.
