Rep. Gary Peters Issues Statement about Governor Snyder's Attack on Economically Disadvantaged Michiganders

Today Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement on Governor Snyder's policy of punishing underprivileged families for needing assistance during this recession.

"Governor Snyder's decision to cut public assistance to families during this recession rather than helping them is misguided and ultimately will force families facing tough economic conditions into homelessness. We know that almost two thirds of the people affected by this decision are children and because of that, I oppose this policy on both economic and moral grounds. We need to focus on policies that will help get Michiganders back to work rather than put them on the streets."
