Landry's Job-Creating POWER Act Passes Through Committee

The United States House Committee on Natural Resources today unanimously passed H.R. 2360 -- the Providing for Our Workforce and Energy Resources Act (POWER Act) -- a bill introduced by Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) that will close a loophole in existing law that allows offshore renewable energy resources to be installed or serviced by foreign workers.

"The POWER Act is a common-sense solution that levels the playing field for offshore energy resources, improves regulatory certainty, boosts job opportunities, and increases worker safety -- all of which are desperately requested by job creators and the American people. Today's passage brings us closer to ensuring all sources of energy produced off our coasts follow the same job-producing playbook that has been employed by the offshore oil and gas industry," said Landry. "I am glad both Democrats and Republicans recognized that the POWER Act will help put Americans back to work. And I look forward to my bill receiving the same type of bipartisan support when it is brought for vote on the House floor."
