U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) and John Cornyn, (R-TX), today issued the following statements applauding the Senate's unanimous confirmation of the four U.S. Attorney nominees for Texas:
"I am very pleased that these four highly qualified individuals have been unanimously approved by the full Senate," said Sen. Hutchison. "Kenneth Magidson, Sarah Saldaña, Robert Pittman, and Malcolm Bales have each been thoroughly evaluated by our Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee, and all possess the solid prosecutorial experience necessary to fill these important positions."
"I am pleased that these four nominees for U.S. Attorneys in Texas were unanimously confirmed by the Senate last night," said Sen. Cornyn. "Sen. Hutchison and I were pleased to recommend these professionals of the highest caliber, who have earned the support of the President and now the full Senate, and I wish them well in the important work they will be doing."
The confirmed nominees are: Kenneth Magidson for the Southern District; Sarah Ruth Saldaña for the Northern District; Robert Lee Pitman for the Western District; and John Malcolm Bales for the Eastern District. Each of these candidates was recommended by Sens. Cornyn and Hutchison to the President after being screened by their bipartisan Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee (FJEC). The Senators established this panel of leading attorneys in Texas to help identify the most qualified candidates to fill these vacancies, and invited qualified attorneys to seek appointment by submitting their resumes and completed questionnaires to both lawmakers' offices.
