Griffin: Bill Funds Government with Savings, Funds Disaster Relief, While "Super Committee' Continues Work

Statement

Date: Sept. 23, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after House passage of the Continuing Resolution (CR), which will keep the federal government operating until November 18, 2011, while the "Super Committee" continues its work:

"Tonight, I voted to pass the Continuing Resolution, which funds the government at reduced levels agreed to in August and provides $3.65 billion for disaster relief to help those affected by this year's natural disasters. And unlike the Senate version, the House version provides $1.5 billion in savings to help pay for it. It also reduces spending for the program that funded the Administration's Solyndra loan fiasco. The sooner the Senate passes this bill, the sooner they can focus on passing more than a dozen pro-jobs, pro-growth bills already passed by the House."
