Van Hollen Statement on American Jobs Act

Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, today issued the following statement after President Obama sent legislative text of the American Jobs Act to Capitol Hill to be introduced:

"I look forward to reviewing the details of the American Jobs Act, which President Obama sent to the Congress today. Every day that the economy is stalled is another day that the American people are hurting and the deficit is growing. The President, in his speech last week and again today, has laid out a clear path to putting people back to work and giving a critical boost to our economic recovery -- and has done so in a way that is fully paid-for. Getting Americans working again will not only help families who are struggling, but is also the most effective way to reduce the deficit in the short term. We must move forward in our efforts to create jobs and get our fiscal house in order, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on this effort."
