Blog: Making Mississippi First in Jobs

Statement

It has always been my mission and goal as a candidate for governor to reach-out to all Mississippi businesses -- both large and small -- to partner-up with existing ones to help facilitate job creation and expansion right here in our state.

Mississippi's small businesses employ over half of the private sector employees in our state, and small businesses have generated more than 60 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years. It is clear that we need more focus on developing Mississippi's small businesses. In a DuPree Administration, we will increase the focus on small business incentives to help existing ones expand or franchise. A DuPree Administration will

* seek to provide tax and other financial incentives for technology-based and green jobs created by small businesses-- and

* invest in technological upgrades in rural parts of the state that would allow entrepreneurs to create jobs in areas where populations are low or have been decreased.

It is with policies like these, we can create the right environment for the fastest job growth RIGHT HERE in Mississippi.
