Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii) released the following statement today in recognition of America's prisoners of war and service members missing in action:

"You are not forgotten.

"This simple line of text on the National League of POW/MIA Families' flag reminds us all of our fellow Americans who did not return home from combat or who were taken as prisoners of war. The men and women of our armed services have given much in defense of our freedom and for this we are forever thankful and particularly today, on POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor their great sacrifices.

"We must not forget the more than 88,000 service members who remain missing from World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War. We must continue our search for Americans missing in action until they are brought home and laid to rest."
