U.S. Representative Martin Heinrich (NM-1) released the following statement marking the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:

"Each of us can recall the devastation and tragedy that struck our nation ten years ago and the dark days that followed. Yet the events of September 11th also revealed much of what we revere about our nation, including the selflessness of our first responders, the heroism of our service members, and the compassion of millions of people from around the world who were driven to lend a hand. That day, our nation's spirit was rekindled in unity and concern for one another.

"When confronted by evil, America came together on September 11th showing enormous perseverance and hope for a better tomorrow. As we pay tribute to those we lost in this horrific tragedy, let us also evoke the respect and compassion we have for one another, regardless of any challenges or difference we must overcome."
