Texas Senators Applaud Committee Approval Of U.S. Attorneys For Texas

U.S. Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statements applauding the Senate Judiciary Committee's unanimous approval of the President's nominees for the four U.S. Attorney vacancies in Texas. Each nominee was recommended to the President by the Texas Senators after review by their bipartisan Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee.

"I am very pleased that the Senate Judiciary Committee has unanimously approved these four highly qualified individuals to be U.S. Attorneys in Texas," said Sen. Hutchison. "Our Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee assessed these candidates thoroughly and in a timely fashion. Kenneth Magidson, Sarah Saldaña, Robert Pittman, and John Bales all possess solid prosecutorial experience. I look forward to working with Senator Cornyn to help these Texas nominees gain full Senate confirmation."

"These nominees are professionals who have earned the support of the President, Senator Hutchison and myself, and now the backing of the full Senate Judiciary Committee. My hope is that they will be swiftly confirmed by the Senate so they can begin the important work in Texas that they were nominated to do," said Sen. Cornyn, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The nominees approved by the committee today include: Kenneth Magidson for the Southern District; Sarah Ruth Saldaña for the Northern District; Robert Lee Pitman for the Western District; and John Malcolm Bales for the Eastern District. These nominees now await confirmation by the full Senate.
