Hoyer Urges Elections Board to Permanently Reinstate Linda Lamone
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer released the following statement today after the Maryland state elections board reinstated Maryland elections chief Linda Lamone.
"I was extremely troubled to learn that the Maryland state elections board abruptly found Linda Lamone incapable of doing her job less than two months before a critical national election. Five days after hearing the announcement, I have yet to hear of any substantive reason that would lead me to believe that she deserves this criticism after so many years of impeccable service to our state.
"Without any credible substance to these claims, today's reinstatement of Ms. Lamone was absolutely necessary. With less than two months to go before the election, the last thing the voters of Maryland need is uncertainty. I urge the board to affirm the reinstatement later this week so that Linda Lamone will be able to continue providing outstanding leadership to the voters in our state."
