U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement regarding his support for a Balanced Budget Amendment:

"With our national debt at nearly $14.3 trillion, it is clear that Democrat-led Washington must be held accountable and forced to stop spending money it doesn't have. That is why I support a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution as the only permanent solution to control government spending and end our nation's spending-driven debt crisis.

"Hardworking Americans balance their budgets and I strongly believe that Washington should do the same. While spending cuts and caps are steps in the right direction, a permanent solution will save the next generation from paying down the debt created by our government's out-of-control spending. A Balanced Budget Amendment will ensure that we take our nation off its current path towards bankruptcy and pave the way towards a brighter future."
