Rep. Bill Keating is pleased to announce that the town of Hull has been awarded a $555,000 grant by the US Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration (FHA). The grant, which is part of the FHA's Ferry Boat Discretionary Program, will be used to make major improvements to Hull's commuter ferry terminal at Pemberton Pier.

Rep. Keating met with Hull officials in May about the terminal rehabilitation and has been lobbying for support on behalf of the project since then.

"I am very excited that Hull has received this award," said Rep. Keating. "No one knows the importance of regular ferry service and an efficient, accessible terminal more than the residents of Hull. This grant will create jobs and help boost our main economic engine -- tourism. It is a huge win for Hull and the South Shore."

"The Board of Selectmen would like to thank Congressman Keating for all of his efforts in securing this grant," said Phil Lemnios, Hull Town Manager. "Pemberton Point is one of the most scenic and visited spots in Hull. This grant will improve the commuter ferry terminal, which provides a vital link to Boston for many Hullonians and other South Shore residents. Without the assistance of the Congressman, these improvements would not have come to fruition."
