Letter to Barack Obama, President of the United States - Federal Disaster Declaration in Iowa

Dear Mr. President:

I respectfully ask that you grant the request made by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad for a declaration of a major disaster for Dubuque and Jackson counties in Iowa as a result of severe storms and torrential rains beginning on July 27, 2011 through July 29, 2011. When this latest storm hit the area, the counties were already working to recover from previous Presidential declared disasters.

The Governor determined that this incident is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the state and affected local governments to handle effectively and federal assistance is needed.
