Barrasso: "Recovery" Summer Replaced By Regulatory Summer

Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) decision to finalize its "Transport Rule."

"Once again, the Obama Administration has moved forward with another job destroying rule. Instead of a recovery summer, this is a regulatory summer.

"The EPA itself admits that the Transport Rule will cost thousands of jobs and unleash a nearly $2.7 billion burden on the private sector. In addition, this rule raises the cost of energy, which will make running factories and small businesses that much more expensive.

"With 9.1 percent unemployment, America's workers and job creators cannot afford this punishing rule. It flies in the face of the President's promise to make job creation his top priority. If the White House is really serious about making it easier for the private sector to create new jobs, it will insist the EPA end the regulatory summer.

"Republicans will continue to hold the White House accountable for relentlessly rolling out more red tape that strangles America's job creators."
