Van Hollen Statement on Agreement to Reopen the FAA

Press Release

Date: Aug. 4, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Maryland Congressman Van Hollen released the following statement applauding the compromise proposal to end the shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):

"I am pleased that a compromise has been reached to put tens of thousands Americans back to work and continue important improvements to our nation's air travel system. This shutdown not only kept people off the job, but also cost the taxpayer -- money that went into the pockets of the airline industry. These kind of political games are unacceptable. With this compromise in place, we must now return to the traditional, open process to resolve differences between the House- and Senate-passed legislation."
