Issue Position

Florida possesses many of our nation's most unique and vulnerable ecosystems. Our coastlines and wetlands are national treasures which must be preserved for all Americans. Yet, rising sea levels, polluted waterways, and the dwindling populations of native species remind us of the dire need for robust environmental protections that promote cleaner air, cleaner water, and preservation of our natural resources. We must understand that what we do today has a profound impact on future generations of Americans.

That is why I was proud to vote in favor of H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act. This important comprehensive energy legislation will increase our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil and preserve our planet by reducing the pollution that causes global warming. While we have yet to send a climate bill to the President's desk, I will continue to work towards passage of comprehensive legislation.
