September 11 - Three Years Later

WASHINGTON, DC - (September 10, 2004) Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) issued the following statement in recognition of tomorrow's third anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks:

"In the three years since the skies over America suddenly darkened, our country has been reshaped in so many ways. Since that day, we value more dearly life for its preciousness and fragility. We respect more fully the courage by which police and firefighters work each day. We understand more plainly that our ideals and lives continue to be threatened by a fanaticism founded in lawlessness and nurtured through violence. We recognize more clearly that our humanity is at its brightest when in sacrifice to our community and country.

"All Americans who witnessed the horrors of that day will not forget the senselessness of the bloodshed or the bravery of the first responders. We continue to stand in solace with families who lost loved ones that day. We will stand true to the memory of the victims by vigilantly protecting the liberty and opportunity that our country has so long offered to all."

Congressman Schiff is the co-founder of the Democratic Study Group on National Security and a member of both the House Judiciary and International Relations committees. He represents California's 29th Congressional District, which includes the communities of Alhambra, Altadena, Burbank, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Glendale, Monterey Park, Pasadena, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Temple City.
