Throughout his tenure in the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Sessions has continually advocated for a limited government, fiscally responsible policies, pro-growth solutions and common sense tax relief that contributes to American economic expansion. This begins with a national budget that limits government intrusion into the free market, provides necessary national security and eliminates wasteful government spending.

A product of the private sector, Congressman Sessions understands the need to fight unnecessary bureaucracy and to utilize market-driven solutions to effectively solve problems in our communities and in government. As a result, he brings these common-sense principles to the government budgetary process in Congress. As a former member of the Budget Committee and an active member of the fiscally-conservative Republican Study Committee, Congressman Sessions is very involved in the budget process, fighting for the efficient and responsible allocation of our nation's financial resources.

Unfortunately, the fiscal year 2012 budget submitted by President Obama in February does not meet Congressman Sessions' expectations for a fiscally-responsible spending plan. The President's FY 2012 Budget not only spends $3.73 trillion, but also forecasts that our deficit will surge to an all-time high of $1.65 trillion in 2011. Especially during challenging economic times, Congressman Sessions believes that Congress should focus on allowing American families and businesses to keep more their hard-earned money, promoting pro-growth, fiscally-responsible policies for job-creation and reducing the crippling debt and deficits our nation faces.

On April 5, 2011, House Republicans unveiled the fiscal year 2012 House budget resolution. "The Path to Prosperity" proposed by Chairman Ryan will save over $6 trillion in the next ten years when compared to President Obama's unsustainable budget blueprint which only increases our national debt, burdens Americans with more taxes and ignores our nation's long-term fiscal challenges. Congressman Sessions is encouraged by this common-sense budget plan that tackles our nation's fiscal crisis head-on, recognizing that we must put an end to out-of-control spending to get our economy back on track. House Republicans will continue to work tirelessly to reduce wasteful government spending, reform our tax code, gain control over our nation's debt and deficit and put the millions of Americans that remain unemployed back to work.
