Congressman Landry's Statement after Reid Plan Fails in the House

Statement

Date: July 30, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives overwhelming voted against Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats' debt limit plan:

"My fellow colleagues in the House and I have passed two plans that would end America's debt limit crisis, cut trillions of Washington's wasteful spending, and preserve promises made to our seniors and military. We have now also overwhelming rejected Senator Reid's plan of budget tricks, accounting gimmicks, and empty promises. The Reid Plan contains $1 trillion in phantom spending cuts, slashes defense spending by $868 billion, and gives the President a blank check signed by the taxpayers. His plan is more of the same in Washington that the American people want to end. In order to restore confidence in the American Dream, the Democrats must put the American people over partisan politics."
