Excitement on the Ground

Statement

Date: June 20, 2011

This past weekend was a huge success. What I saw on the ground has energized me, and I want to share that with you because your hard work is starting to pay off.

My family and I traveled throughout North Mississippi on Friday and Saturday. We visited supporters and met with elected officials and community leaders in Pontotoc, Amory, West Point and Aberdeen on Friday. On Saturday, we visited Juneteenth events in Tupelo, Columbus and Meridian.

Everywhere we went, people came up to me excited about this race. We have told our story by going to communities large and small and talking directly to the people. And so far, it is working.

Now, we need to move to the next step.

To do that, I need your help. We have excitement building, and I want that excitement to continue to grow. With your contribution of $5, $25, $50, $100 or more, we can spread the word about our candidacy further and faster.

The momentum we see on the ground is encouraging. Over the weekend we had the opportunity to listen to hundreds of citizens about their concerns and their desires for our state. We also had the chance to share with them our vision and plans to help improve Mississippi in the areas of jobs, education and healthcare.

We want to spread that vision and those plans to even more people. That's why your financial support is so important. I need your help, and I know you can do it. Many of you already have, and I'm grateful for everything you have done.

After spending time with people in these communities, we were reminded why we entered this race. My family and I are so humbled by your support. We look forward to many more events where we can hear from you. Because, we know, together we can make Mississippi First.

Sincerely,
Johnny L. DuPree
