Experience is what Mississippi needs right now; experience in bringing jobs, expanding small businesses and experience in dealing with tough economic times.
I did an analysis of all the candidates in the race for governor and came to the realization that Mayor Johnny DuPree is the only candidate in this race who knows and understands how decisions in Jackson affect the people back home.
While Johnny DuPree has been mayor, the City of Hattiesburg has continually created private sector jobs -- with more than 1,000 jobs added just last year. And, Mayor DuPree has led efforts in recruiting a multi-billion dollar corporation to Mississippi that will add another 1,000 jobs over the next five years. These jobs will pay an average salary of $40,000 a year, higher than the state's per-job average.
