Mayor Roderick T. Nicholson Endorses Johnny DuPree for Governor

It is my honor to write a personal letter of endorsement for Johnny DuPree in his quest to be the next Governor of the State of Mississippi.

Over the past few years I have become acquainted with Mayor DuPree through his leadership in the Mississippi Municipal League and his involvement in the Mississippi Conference of Black Mayors. Based on his leadership on statewide issues in these two organizations, I feel that Mayor Johnny DuPree has the intellect, temperament, experience and vision to be a very capable Governor and to lead our Mississippi into the future.

In addition to that, as a three-term mayor of one of the largest cities in Mississippi, Johnny DuPree has shown extraordinary leadership in shepherding Hattiesburg through Hurricane Katrina and helping to make Hattiesburg one of the most livable cities in not only Mississippi but in all of America. That's not just me talking. The proof is in the countless national awards and recognitions heaped on the City of Hattiesburg every year.

Mayor DuPree has a solid grasp of the issues and challenges that face our state, and he has shown an ability to work with diverse political, racial and geographic groups to bring all the players to the table to work toward a consensus and to get things done.

Johnny DuPree has gotten it done for the City of Hattiesburg, and I have the utmost faith that he can get it done as the next Governor of the State of Mississippi!
