Senator Reed is committed to ensuring access to affordable, high quality health care for all, which is why he supported the new health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act. Through this new law, we can improve our health care system and slow the growth of health care costs for everyone by harnessing new technology, wringing savings out of inefficiencies, focusing on prevention, and rewarding providers for improving health care quality.

We must have enough health providers to care for everyone, which is why Senator Reed has consistently supported education and training for health professionals.

He also strongly supports funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Scientific research, coupled with greater public education and awareness, has helped prevent and treat many diseases, easing patient suffering and lessening the burden on families and the American health care system.
