As hiring stalled in June and the unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent, U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, a small business owner, released the following statement on how to put America back to work:
"Once again, the unemployment report underlines job creators' lack of confidence in the economy and our banking and credit systems, and their uncertainty about the level of regulations and taxation. Senate Democrats and the President continue to refuse to have a fact-based conversation on how to truly help our economy and grow jobs for our country. It has been 800 days since the Senate passed a budget, and they refuse to offer an alternative to the one House Republicans put forth. If they won't get to work, how do they expect to put the American people back to work? It's time the Senate and the President provide some certainty and leadership to the American people. House Republicans have continued to offer ideas that will stop Washington from spending money we don't have, and get Americans back to work. Hopefully this month's report is the wake-up call they need," Huizenga said.
