Cornyn: Debate of Critical Trade Agreements Must Be Transparent

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, today released the following statement after a highly-partisan maneuver by Senate Democrats involving the three pending trade agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea:

"The three trade accords with Korea, Colombia, and Panama --as well as transition assistance--should each be debated and considered on their merits. There is stark disagreement in the Senate over transition assistance, yet President Obama and Senate Democrats want to hide the program from public scrutiny by lumping it into the Korea trade agreement that was signed four years ago today. Each of these accords deserve close scrutiny in the light of day, as they are critical to opening new markets for Texas and American exports."
