DeLauro Statement on Sikorsky Acquisition
of Schweizer Aircraft

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) today released the following statement upon learning that Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation had reached an agreement to acquire Schweizer Aircraft Corporation, a privately owned U.S. company specializing in the light helicopter, reconnaissance aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) markets.

"By reaching into the new markets that Schweizer specializes in, Sikorsky is continuing to be a world leader on innovative defense and technology aircraft. This is good news for Sikorsky, for Connecticut, and for the defense industry, which relies on Sikorsky so heavily.

"I welcome today's announcement and hope that the acquisition goes through as planned."
