No Surprise that 60 Plus Supports Ending Medicare Guarantee

Press Release

Groups Funding Ads Stand to Make Billions Off of GOP Plan

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member on the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the 60 Plus Association's ads in support of the Republican Medicare plan:

"It is no surprise that the 60 Plus Association is running ads in support of the Republican plan to force Medicare beneficiaries into the private insurance market, since 60 Plus is a front group for the insurance industry that stands to win billions of taxpayer dollars from the plan. The ad creates the false impression that seniors will get the same health care deal as members of Congress -- which is simply untrue. Members of Congress have a guaranteed share of premiums paid for by the government, while the Republican plan takes that away from seniors. Shame on House Republicans and 60 Plus for peddling a plan that will provide a huge windfall to the insurance industry at the expense of seniors."
