Congressman Landry Announces BOEMRE Grant for the Beau Bayou Swamp Hydrologic Restoration Project

Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) today announced a grant of $340,960 to St. Martin Parish for Phase I of the Beau Bayou Swamp Hydrologic Restoration Project, an initiative that is expected to restore fisheries habitats and help restore and preserve the overall ecology in the west central region of the Atchafalaya Basin. The grant -- awarded by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation & Enforcement (BOEMRE) -- will fund preconstruction activities including planning, design, and permitting.

"As someone who grew up in the Basin, I am extremely proud to announce today's grant," said Landry. "The Beau Bayou Swamp initiative is vital in preserving the natural habitats in the Basin and restoring our coast."

Landry, who earned his degree in Environmental and Sustainable Resources from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, has made coastal restoration and preservation some of his top priorities in Congress.
