Rokita Votes for Legislation to Create Jobs, Lower Gas Prices, Rollback Red Tape

Rep. Todd Rokita (IN-4) voted today for H.R. 2021, the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011, legislation designed to eliminate needless permitting delays that have stalled important energy production efforts off the coast of Alaska.

As a result of H.R. 2021 and Alaskan off-shore drilling, more than one million barrels of oil could be produced per day and more than 54,000 jobs could be created.

"Anytime we can reduce burdensome regulation, create jobs and increase American energy production, we've taken an important step toward getting our economy back on track," Rokita said.

"This legislation helps reduce energy prices by rolling back the red tape preventing more energy production in Alaska and, as a result, more American jobs from being created. Domestic energy production not only creates jobs directly required to produce the energy, but it increases supply and helps reduce energy prices. Lower energy prices allow small businesses to grow and create jobs."
