Texas U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn introduced and passed a Resolution in the U.S. Senate honoring the NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks.
"The Mavericks played with heart and teamwork to win the NBA Championship," said Sen. Hutchison. "When they fell behind in a game, they battled back. When their star player, Dirk Nowitzki, was playing sick, they rallied around him. The Mavericks showed great perseverance and determination to become world champions. They are truly a class act."
"The Dallas Mavericks embody everything that Texans cherish: hard work, raw talent, and an unyielding determination to win," said Sen. Cornyn. "Under sound coaching and management, the Mavs have proven to be yet another example of a Texas success story."
The Mavericks won the NBA Championship in six games over the Miami Heat. The Hutchison-Cornyn Resolution, S. Res. 209, passed the Senate by Unanimous Consent.
